Rotating Assembly for TFS Head/Cam Package
Hey guys, I looked at a used supercharged recently, the guy claimed it was for my year and it turned out Procharger stated it was for 2005+ so I didn't get it unfortunately My bonus cheque from work finally came in though and it was rather hefty So I'm really looking into building my engine for next summer. I already got my suspension awaiting install (new springs, shocks, struts, caster cambers, rear upper and lower control arms, subframe connectors) and I have a built rear. Basically the kit I'm going to go with is:
CMS/Trick Flow Twisted Wedge 2V Top End Kit - 38cc - 125lb springs - Cushman Motorsports
I will be pairing it with there CMS stage II cams so later I can run some big NOS through it. Problem is I need to build my bottom end and I have no idea what I would need to work with those heads? Pistons, rods, crank etc. Any body know much about building an engine more then I do!

If you just want to beef it up for spray, the rods are the weak point. Crank is good for 600hp and 7000rpm. Even pistons are good as long as you get a good tune.
I would get a piston / rod combo to get you to the compression ratio you want, and just refresh the block with new bearings and a hone.
Take a good look at the timing components, and oil pump while in there.

I figure if Im doing the heads, cams and valvetrain, I might as well do the pistons with the rods too. I am ordering the MMR stroker 900 forged rotating assembly very soon. I will leave the stock crank for now as its pretty beefy as is. I will start with the:
Manley Forged Pistons (any compression ratio) and 4340 Forged H beam Rods by MMR. Includes Total Seal file fit Rings , ARP hardware and Moly Lube, .20 bore. And I'll consider the 4.75 or 5.0 Crank from Kellogg.
I will be getting the 44cc trick flow head package and CMS stage II cams. New timing pieces and valvetrain for them. Im doing the 44cc because Im going to be spraying temporarily until I can find a good deal on a supercharger. My compression ratio will be stock or a little under. I will then machine the block, bore it to exact size of pistons, heat clean it, align, deck zone, etc. This is what my mechanic has suggested. What do you think!?

If you get the stroker kit, install it as a kit. Use the crank that comes with it. If you are going to use ARP studs on the mains, it needs to be align honed using the bearings and crank that will be used.
The rotating assembly needs to be balanced as well. Build it for what it will be used, the first time, including cam choice.

its alright. seems a lot more torquey, but that could also be due to the higher compression.
Im not running ideal cams for it, the TFS stage 2 are more for FI applications. I will be getting CMS stage 3 next year. That grind is supposed to compliment the heads really well.

From what I hear the 5.0 stroker changes the power band to more of a torque heavy side. Drops off some of the high end HP. Those CMS are good cams those heads would love it! Im sure its screaming for some NOS as well!
