97 Cobra -> 03/04 Cobra Top End Swap

Be prepared for a few more posts as I think up different combinations.

As some of you know, I'm trying to figure out what to do with the Cobra. Right now I have a 97 Cobra with a Vortech S-Trim. This made 419rwhp and 378rwtq without any other modifications really. I blew the head gasket (175,000km on the motor) so I'm going to be pulling the motor and rebuilding it, including forged naughty bits.

After driving my brother's Lightning, I figured that a roots style SC is much more fun on the street.

So how difficult is this swap, pretty straight forward? Anything I need to be aware of? The motor will be out of the car so anything that needs to be done to it is not a problem.

i will try and find links stating why.

They do make a KB for our cars.

Yeah I was comparing it to the KB. I figured it would be cheaper to get an 03 Cobra topend instead of the KB...

You mean air intake or lower intake? It would be an entire head/intake/etc swap.

An 03/04 Cobra top end on our block is a total project. It is not worth the work IMO when you can just forge your motor and keep the V2. You want fun? Put 4.30's in it.

Doing the '03 top end blows. Keep what you got.

It really does blow! ha ha!

I'm still undecided and it's actually paying off... My bank account is gaining ground for the first time in over a year.

ya you are right.
try 03 with system features 151/48-inch forward-facing headers, two 60mm turbos, and 3-inch downpipes.
