Oil Pan Gasket

HEY GUYS,

JUST A QUICK QUESTION ABOUT REPLACING MY OIL PAN GASKET
I,VE HEARD THAT YOU MUST LIFT THE ENGINE UP TO REPLACE THE
GASKET,IS THIS TRUE??

WHY COULD YOU NOT JUST DROP THE PAN ENOUGH TO REMOVE AND REINSTALL THE GASKET

BY THE WAY, I'M DRIVING AN 89 LX AND ITS A 5.0

Because there not enough room to get the gasket in. Remember , inside the pan there is the oil pickup that goes all the way to the bottom of the pan.

Its a PITA *** job.

So If I Lift The Motor Up Will The Oil Pan Come Right Out Or Will It Give Me Just Enough Room To Get The New Gasket In?
