2011-2014 Coyote engine tick

Anyone have an issue with their engine starting to make a ticking noise after an oil change?

I have seen quite a few cases online and Ford has replaced quite a few blocks in many cases.
So far there has been no TSB issued (maybe never will be) but it is disconcerting to think the new 5.0 engine is not the marvel Ford has been promoting it to be.

I had the 2004 4.6 V that liked to spit out plugs (lucky I never had an issue).

I had a 2007 4.6 3V that had the 2 piece plugs (lucky I traded it before having to do the plugs). Additionally, the aluminum hood has corrosion issues from 2005 to 2014 model years.

I have the 2014 and now I have to worry about the engine ticking like a BBQ starter at any time after an oil change...... this is too much..... where do Ford get their engineers and how do they test the parts and processes before releasing the cars for sale?

I baby my car and will be very disappointed if I start having these issues.

Not trying to start a bash thread but wanted to see if anyone has any thoughts or remedies for the ticking issue.

Thanks

I have never had any problems with my 4.6.However it sucks you've had some bad luck. You should take yours in since you should have warranty still. Lots of things can make noise with the over head cams. Phasers, cams, springs, etc...

My engine isn't ticking at the moment, I haven't done my first oil change yet.
Many who have developed the problem report it happens right after their first or subsequent oil change.

There are plenty of videos of this on youtube.

I plan to use the Motorcraft semi-syn 5w20 and Motorcraft oil filter for my first oil change.

I will fill the oil filter with oil before spinning it on. I never like the thought of an engine getting no oil for seconds until a dry filter fills with oil to then go out to the moving assembly.

For the record, I love this car and hope to keep this one for a very long time but I hope I do not have any engine issues to take the joy out of owning it.

Any 2011-2014 5.0 owners here?
Any issues after the oil change to report?

I don't know much on the subject but I do know that sticking with Motorcraft Oil/Filter for your oil changes helps.

There were many well documented cases online regarding F150's that had their oil changed and a non Ford (Fram usually) filter was used. The trucks developed a tick (aside from their already sometimes heavy tick) then went boom.

Ill bet its the fuel injectors ticking or the VCT...or a combination of the 2. Also, its always a great idea to fill the filter before installing, but don't think the engine runs dry if you don't do it. There is plenty of oil on all the bearings still after draining it.

I have forgot to fill my oil filters plenty of times over the years.. never took out an engine because of it.

I may be in trouble then...as I run a mobil 1 filter and mobil 1 5/40 oil. I cant see how the engine would ever know what brand of oil and filter you run.

Can you explain how sticking with Motorcraft helps with the OP issues? As for the F-150's..did someone actually find proof that a fram oil filter caused the engine tick? If so do you have a link? As I also have a f-150 eco boost and would like to read up on that.

thanks

Just offering a suggestion. Forget I weighed in.

When it comes to oil and filter the way I see it is if it came with it run with it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

You are 100 percent right. Your opinion is your own.

I was only asking you to elaborate and provide some links to what you mentioned as I am curious is all.

I hope I didn't offend

Cheers,
