5.0 Head question

5.0 Head question
So here's the question.....
I have heard that no matter what aftermarket head I was to put on my 95GT that I would have to get the pistons notched due to valve clearance.
Is this true?? :2:
Of course I have also heard the opposite.

TFS's twisted wedges don't require notches as long as the lift and duration on you cam don't get to big. I'm pretty sure the AFR 165 with the 1.9 intake don't either. What ever head you choose its always good to check piston to valve clearance unless you are still running the stock cam. good luck

the stock short block in a 95 GT will be the same in everyway as the older 5.0's except they dont use forged piston's hyperutechtic only in 94 and 95 you should be ok with anything that worked in the earler years. That being said ALLWAYS check for piston to valve clearance the right way. It will save you money in the long run

The only way you would need to have the pistons "notched" is if you were to run some huge valves-which would most likely cost you power rather than make power. Any of the mild aftermarket heads will bolt up no problem, as mentioned before it's always a good idea to check clearance just in case.
