Aftermarket Posi Units.. what you using?

Going to be buying a better posi unit for the LX in the spring. The stock one is about done... and I could care less about rebuilding it, only to have it do the same things again.

I've been told not to go with the Auburn units because of the cones.. The ones I have had recommended to me for hard launch/slicks/drag race type abuse are the Eaton Posi and Detroit Locker "True Trac" units.

I was all set to get a Powertrax locker because of the ease of install, however I read [forget where] that they are more suited to 4x4 off roading than repeated drag racing because the teeth round off and once they do, its game over. But arent the teeth always fully locked together [by spings] when the car's going straight to being with??

What's your suggestions/opinions on the ones you are using? Cost..?

Thanks.

As it stands now, we're probably going with an Eaton posi in my 99 GT along with a new set of axles. I don't have the prices for my Eaton's on hand...maybe someone else will chime in.

Khaine - Nice! What/Whos suspension setup is that? It almost looks like Team Z Motorsports. My upper ctrl arm setup are kinda similar to what you have.

It's wolfe racecraft upper and lowers on a currie 9" rear end, detroit locker, 4.11 gears, and 35 spline axles. All spherical bushings, so there is no deflection in it at all.

I use the eaton posi with 31 spline axles. If your going to change the stock carrier I would change the axles to 31`s so they don`t break. I know from breaking two sets of 28 spline axles with an auburn carrier. I didn`t like the auburn because you can`t rebuild it but you can rebuild the eaton.
