The Best Year

What would you consider the "best" year Mustang between 1988 and 1993. I'm not too familiar with the differences between the years or any changes they might have made as they typically do.

I have a buddy looking for an old one and wanted me to relay this question

IMO
I've had an 88 Hatch.. Brother had an 89 Hatch. Friend has a 91 Coupe and a 90 Hatch and I now have a 91 Coupe.. I would say 91/92.
I'm not a fan of the SD either..
Don't get me wrong.. I miss my 88... but the rustang had to go.

I also like 87 t-tops becasue they are hard to find in good shape.

93's come with hypereutectic pistons.

88 is generally regarded as the fastest year, no MAF as restriction, and apparently the cam was the best that year

87 -88 5 speed notch was the quickest.

I would have to say the best would be 91-92. I like the interior of the 90-93's especially black, or grey.

my frist... the 88 hatch had a tremic on a stock motor... few bolt ons.. and 300,000kms went pretty good for the abuse it got.. I'll say it never had a problem passing emmisons

I think 89 is one of the best years, it has mass air and tilt steering(no air bag either) also has a pretty nice interior

I'm also pretty sure the mass air cars are quicker then the speed density cars

I also in a haynes manuel it has the cam profiles of the different years Ill post the cam specs if I can find it in the book

looking in haynes it seems that all the cams from 86+ were the same at a theoretical valve lift @ zero lash was .442 lift the 93 cobra had a lift of .479
