Cobra upper lower intake

Hi guys and gals. I have a question.
How much more power will I be gaining if I install a cobra upper/lower intake ?
Is it easy to install ?

My Mods: catbacks, 3:73, timing advanced to 14, Shift kit.

Thanx in advance.

Bill

I'm not a mechanic but I know my way around cars.. and installing an intake like that is very easy.

The POSSIBLE gain is ~10-15HP, but really, the only restrictive runners on the stocker are the dog-legged puppies, so the intake isn't going to give you as much power as it is going to balance the airflow between the cylinders that the stock intake fails miserably at doing, you'll notice a smoother running engine from that fact alone. You may notice a small SOTP difference, but it won't be huge. Expect a small increase in fuel economy as well.

Actually the stock upper doesn't flow too bad and porting the stock lower if you aren't planning on a ton of mods down the road is what i'd do.. from the pic I am attaching the stock upper looks like it's one of the better ones as far as flowing equally per cyl. The stock lower just KILLS it in flow and is unbalanced.... Porting the lower would solve that though and be worth the same 10-15 HP on a stock engine.

Thanx Schlodes. After reading what you said I did a little more research and this seems the way to go for me. Is this easy to do on your own ?

Anyone from Ottawa know someone who does this sort of work ?

I know of a guy in the states who does them [a kick *** job and flows them] for $125 with exchange. Your lower will flow around ~190 CFM in all the runners when it's done, and he's had a few different guys dyno 15 RWHP with one of his lowers on a stock engine.I'll have to do some digging, it's been a while.

There's guys on here who do nice work on the ported stock lowers too... i've seen em but can't recall who at the moment..

Put an ad up in the parts wanted section.
