high reving upon start up???
Hey guys my car is near completion except for one problem that nobody has quite figured out yet.
When the car is started hot it revs up to about 4000 rpm for a couple of seconds.
Any idea of what the problem is here????

Does it stay at 4000 for a couple seconds or does it hit a high RPM and drop immediatly? It is obviously getting way too much gas on start up but I think you need to provide more details for anyone to be able to offer help...
Does it do the same thing when it is started from cold? What mods have you done?

sorry for the lack of info, i just don't really now how to describe it better. To answer your questions, upon start up it revs high for a couple of seconds then drops to normal idol. before when the car warmed up it would occasionally start idoling horrible and eventually stall out. It doesn't stall out anymore just high reving at start up. No major mods done under the hood performance wise just a cold air induction.
the fuel lines were redone on the car but i can't see how that would effedt anything.

idle air bypass was changed and same problem although idled much better. Computer was also changed and same problem. the electrical is being looked at now so hopefully the problem will be found.

well it turns out after failing an emissions test the mechanic investigated further and found a leak. this lead to the replacement of the egr crap and the map sensor. Upon completion it passed the second test with flying colors!!!!! The only crappy part is it cost me $600 bucks. that stupid egr was $225 :cry2:
