How to tell if engine is original?

Been looking for a 5.0 donor car to use in my 1967, but I'm wondering if there is a way on Fox bodies to tell if the engine and tranny are original to the car? Thanks

Ya, check the VIN's. They should all be the same (motor-Trans-body-ownership)

there are ways to tell the year of the motor as long as its never been apart, if you look into it, the oil pan gaskets were cork for a period of time, then ford switched to the paper style, there are lots of little bits that you can look into, apparently sometimes the oil pans were painted a different colour depending on the year, but simply enough as 5pt said, a 5 litre is a 5 litre, especially if your gonna rebuild it
