New 5.0L engine rebuild or crate?
Does anyone know a good shop in southern ontario to have an engine built? Or somewhere in canada to order a crate engine? I would like more power than the stock motor, but nothing too crazy that I can't keep it on the road.

Well, i'm sure it isn't that serious I hope.
Theres not really much internal you need to do, just tear yours down and replace what you took off with "better" parts lol.
and for wiring its all just plug and play, you can only plug a plug in one spot only pretty streight forward

3500 gets you a 347 shortblock from ford. clearances are spot on... we have a guy here in the lower mainland named parm who owns jawanda motor sports. He ordered one for some reason or another and decided to check the clearances so that he had some confidence behind the product. I believe he order everything from brown bros. ford in vancouver, BC. They are an exclusive dealer for Ford Racing performance parts.
I'm not exactly sure what the block is for that setup tho. Hopefully something capable of handling 800+hp.
If your looking to make more then stock power I suggest looking at the vids I posted in the media section. That motor sported the following:
stock block
keith black .020 bore pistons (not nessassary)
Ford E cam altho the Trickflow Stage1 is much more refined (not so lumpy)
stock heads with Crane Cams energizer RR's
shorty headers and a 2.5" flowmaster hpipe with flowmaster 2chamber catback
70mm edelbrock TB with stock intake.
my guess is that the motor was making 250hp / 320ft lbs tq
If anything it sounds nice and has enough power to zip you past alot of the other cars.
The cam and RR's are for sale if interested.

you might wanna pull the oil sending units wire off and clean the terminal abit and squeeze the plug to make it fit tighter. The sending unit may be the reason of 0 oil pressure if your motor isn't giving you any other problems. just something I had to deal with last yr.

I would like to build a little more than stock power, but nothing too crazy. I think I am going to drive the car till the engine dies.
I put a mechanical gauge on and it game me the same readings, I also had a mechanic check it with an electric gauge and he got the same readings.
Thanks for the info

seeing as how this is in the 5.0
and I think I'm still on topic here...
how much power will the crank handle on a 5.0 1989?
and I mean safely. none of this "well it can hold xxxHP but it'd only last a couple weeks LOL" much obliged

Most inner city people don't have the space compared to someone who owns acreage out in Trenton
Also, building a modded engine as your first engine can turn out to be a costly disaster if you don't have the right people to support you.
However, truth be told, if you build it yourself you save some serious coin.
Your oil pressure should atleast be floating around to some degree. 0 oil pressure is not good for long durations of time.
Try running 20/50.
As for good engine builders... Rolling Thunderz in Woodbridge has good rep. Beatty & Woods built my 306 and I am very pleased with it.
