rag joint needs replacing, any tips

rag joint needs replacing, any tips

don't know if this the right category, but my 88 5.0L has a sloppy steering problem.seems like its the rubber rag joint thats failed.cars all original, so its probably due anyways.anybody changed one? is it a pain to do?

Have you looked at maximum motor sports solid shaft ? I had the same issues and the change was well worth it . You will have to loosen the steering column under the dash to remove and replace.

UPDATE: ordered a maximum motorsports solid shaft from the mustang shop in calgary.install was not too bad.like night and day.old rag was like peanut brittle, just disintigrated.

What is a rag joint? I never heard that term before. anyway my 91 lx convert tends to do a lot of darting in rutts. Tires are over size (245-55-16) is that the reason it darts?
