Strange axles & Spool
I'm new to this site...and by the looks of things you guys are very knowledgeable,so I was wondering if you could answer this question..I'm looking at puchasing a set of Strange 33 spline axles with c-clip elminators..and a spool...Just wondering if I install this set up how will it effect everyday street driving??.......What do you guys recommend??

The car will not be very street friendly with a spool. Also, 33 spline axles are a bit overkill. If you want good straightline performance and still have good street manners I would suggest installing a set of 31 spline axles, 31 spline carrier with your choice of diff gears and go with an Auburn differential. Steeda.ca should be able to help you choose the right parts for your rear end while not wasting your dollars on useless parts.
As for a spool, you will be unable to go around a corner any faster than a crawl because the car will either hop or spin around since both wheels are spinning at the same speed at all times.

You guys are hardcore, telling him it's overkill without knowing the combination. If it's a stocker, sure, but if it's got some serious snot under the hood (or plans for it) to warrant a healthy rear upgrade then it's prbably not. I did 31 splines originally but have recently gone to 33 on mine. In retrospect I shouldn't have wasted the money and did the 33's from the start. I don't see anything wrong with getting a solid foundation for the future.
A true daily driver, a spool may get old. A weekend toy, it's not bad at all. Expect some increased tire wear due to both tires turning equally with no provison to slow the inside tire down in turns. Also axle stress increase in cornering but if you run a softer sidewall tire it helps ease the stresses. I've been rolling on a spool for well over 5 years now and wouldn't want any other set-up.
It'll be the toughest diff available and stone dead reliable. If that's what you are after, then it's an excellent choice. If it's not, maybe look into a limited slip set up. (Eaton, Detroit Locker, T-Lok, etc...)

Sure thing cheif! Build something with some beans and the aspect of durability at the expense of some street manners will really come into play. Sometimes you have to give a little. I'd still like to find out the plans for the car before arguing the details.
A 9"? Cripes, that'd be a waste of time and money. An 8.8" is plenty strong.
Oh I meant to ask, where you serious about recommending an Auburn? They are know to break in 12 second cars and when worn become pretty expensive non-rebuildable paperweights.

As far as I am concerned you can never have overkill in a rearend. I put 33 spline with a spool when the car was running 12's and street driven(spend the money once). Now I am running bottom 9's with the same rearend! I do recomend the 9" ends welded on the 8.8 makes for no leaks!!!!

I havent been here in a wile.
Spool as over kill? Thats a Yes and no question that will get debated time and time again. I bet Steeda has put alot of spools in street driven cars.
Spool is cheaper way to go. You get C clip elims and good axles for same price as a good axles and a good carrier and its stronger setup if you plan on running slicks or ETs. But Stang Seller anytime you want to see a T bird with a spool and south sides do some twistys look me up.
