pony wheel info.

Pony wheels are off fox body 88-93. My question is are they aluminium under the paint ? If they are, can they be stripped and polished and then possibly clear coated ? Really would appreciate some feedback from someone who has done this . Thanks

I haven't donebit but have seen it done... The aluminum underneath wasn't pretty however they weren't pony rims they were aftermaket ones. Get a practice one from the wrecker and try it out

From: Winger, but good luck finding that
Ok.....now as far as polishing a 91-93 (they put the wheels on in 91), sure, you could polish them, but...........
The BIG downfall I see is what do you plan to do with the plastic center cap?

YES, you could put on chrome caps, but chome has a much different look beside a polished aluminum.

American Muscle does list the chrome ones for 149, but, there not in stock. Youd have to call and find out if they will get stock again, personally, if you want polished pony's i'd go that route instead, as at least the cap would match.

I have never seen anyone polish ponies before, only paint. You can purchase chromed ones from American Muscle.

I think I will give it a try. A guy I know picked some up off Craigslist. When they're all polished up they look fantastic and he has chrome caps. Will report on the results later.
