Ford Issues TSB for 2011 Ford Mustang Clutch

Ford has issued a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) for 2011 Ford Mustangs with a manual transmission. According to the report, some owners have reported clutch stayout when shifting at high RPMs. What does all this mean? Well, say you're driving the car hard, and at redline you engage the clutch to shift gears. You let the clutch out after shifting, but the clutch remains on the floor. Then when the RPMs drop, the clutch re-engages on its own. Not good.

Ford describes the problem as such.

Some 2011 Mustangs built on or before 4/25/2010 with a manual transmission and low mileage, typically 10,000 miles or less (16, 093 Km), may exhibit a clutch pedal Stayout condition at very high RPM. This condition will generate a concern of the clutch pedal remaining on the floor during high RPM shifts. When engine RPM drops, clutch pedal operation returns to normal, but the re-engagement may be abrupt.

Ford's solution to the problem is to replace the brake pedal and bracket assembly. The company says this is not a safety issue, as the problem occurs at or after redline. Owners can contact their local Ford dealership to have the problem fixed free of charge.

I know i do,so this would suck for me!!
At least Ford is not saying"Why are you shifting at redline? Are you racing with it?Your warranty is void due to running it hard".
I guess those days are slowly slipping away!

The clutch/TOB issue has been the most difficult and frustrating part of my build. After three combos and several tranny removals, I think I've finally got it sorted out. My buddy has had his '07 GT500 out of commission for two months with the clutch parts on backorder - third clutch for him too. It seems like the engine designers are still winning the cold war versus the clutch and tranny guys.
