Ford Mustang Sales Up 12 Percent in July
Hold your horses, the numbers are in. Today Ford released its sales figures for the month of July. Last month the company sold 7,489 Mustangs. In July of 2009 Ford sold 6,686 Mustang pony cars. That's a year-over-year increase of 12 percent for the month of July. To date, Ford has sold 47,524 Mustangs. Last year at this time they had 40,474 sales under their belt. That 17.4 percent bump is likely due to the release of the new 5.0L powered GT Mustang, as well as a new and improved 3.7-liter Duratec 24-valve V6 Mustang, featuring goodies like a dual exhaust as standard equipment.
Meanwhile, over in Camaro land, Chevrolet sold 7,486 of the cars in July. Talk about a close call! That's three fewer Camaros than Mustangs sold this July. Looks like it's neck-and-neck again. That said, the Camaro has still outsold the Mustang in overall sales for 2010. According to today's General Motors figures, 53,864 Camaros have been sold in 2010.
