Mustang Daytona 500 Official Pace Car Replica
Earlier this year, the Mustang made history by pacing the Daytona 500 for the first time ever. A special pace car was built based on the 2011 Mustang GT/CS with its special front fascia, rear deck spoiler and that rip-snorting new 5.0 V8. The car was hot indeed. Custom striping and graphics were laid on the car along with a host of other Ford Racing goodies.
In grand fashion Ford sold the car at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale last January with the deal that the buyer would get to drive it at the Daytona race. It was no surprise when longtime Mustang collector Ron Pratte of Chandler, AZ was the winning bidder. He has been the buyer who took home many of the big-ticket Mustangs and Shelbys from Barrett-Jackson over the years, with millions of dollars passing through to charities.
Well now you too can take home your own replica of the 2011 Mustang Daytona 500 Pace Car. Ford Racing and your local dealership will be offering 50 copies of the Daytona 500 Official Pace Car Replica. The package is a special order that requires you to start with a 2011 Mustang GT/CS in race red, equipped with a glass roof and 3.73 gears.
The pace car package is sent along to the dealer who does the conversion by removing factory GT/CS striping, emblems, side scoops, sill plates, and strut tower emblem plate. This is because the Daytona 500 Official Pace Car Replica package replaces all of this with the unique graphics top and side striping of the pace car. Also included are various race stickers identical to pace car, faux gas cap emblem, 5.0 badge, custom sill plates, and most importantly a serialized strut brace plaque. You also get a set of Ford Racing embroidered floor mats.
The package essentially builds you a car that is visually identical to the actual pace car. And with the special serialized plaque from Ford you know you have something that is more than just a stripe package. if you are interested we recommend you get with your local Ford dealership now. If you want to make it exactly the same as the actual pace car you can also opt for the Ford Racing suspension and exhaust system too. They are already taking orders and with just 50 copies to be made, they will go fast.
