Just when you thought there couldn't possibly be any more special editions Ford Mustangs, Paul Miller Ford of Lexington Kentucky announces the 2010 Coach Cal Edition Roush Mustang. The vehicle was created to honor former NBA New Jersey Nets head coach and current University of Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari, affectionately known as Coach Cal to his fans.
The 2010 Coach Cal Mustang started life as a Roush 427R. Paul Miller Ford then added custom accents to it including a beautiful custom paint job based on a jet black body with University of Kentucky True Blue stripes stylishly outlined in a sleek metallic silver. "The inspiration for the outer appearance and the color scheme came from a Bill Keightley jersey that was given to me last year," said J.P Miller, General Manager of Paul Miller Ford. "It just seemed to be the perfect fit for this project." Other items that make this car stand out are color matched suede insert seats, and custom emblems. Coach Cal's autograph adorn the car's b-pillars.
Coach Cal is currently driving one of his own and Paul Miller Ford plans to create five additional copies of this special edition for sale to the public. "J.P. Miller asked if I wanted to drive a Mustang for a while" said Coach Cal. "I said, it’s a Mustang! How could I not want to drive it? It’s a really great car. Really an unbelievable ride. Brad’s (his son) wanting me to keep it until he gets his license in four years!"
The Coach Cal Mustang is powered by a Roushcharger supercharger system which boosts the Mustang's 4.6L engine to 435 horsepower. It includes an appearance package comprised of several components including:
-New front fascia and front splitter
-Rear fascia
-Side splitters
-Three-piece rear wing
-Custom blue and black suede seating accents
