Vaughn Gittin Jr’s 1969 RTR-X Mustang
Vaughn Gittin Jr. is on fire. Fast becoming an axis of Mustang racing, style and culture he is continuing his move into building custom cars. The drift racing talent started building custom Stangs last year when he debuted both the 2010 Mustang RTR and RTR-C. Both custom packages take their styling and performance theme from Vaughn’s creative side. The $135,000 carbon fiber bodied Mustang RTR-C may not have found many homes yet, but it knocks your socks off.
For the coming 2011 SEMA Show in November, Vaughn is building up a new project based on a 1969 Mustang called the RTR-X. Partnering with Team Need for Speed, the build is has started with a Dynacorn 1969 Mustang body and is well underway. He will likely be the first to show off a vintage Mustang with the all new 2011 Mustang Coyote 5.0 liter V8 when it arrives in November. Other mods will include a custom front sub frame with modern steering and suspension too.
You can watch the build as it progresses this summer at SpeedHunters.com. Vaughn is blogging about the build and even inviting readers to vote on various parts of the design work. The car will be black with custom body enhancements. Inside there will me a modern digital dash and a complete custom interior build. From the looks of the renderings the RTR-X will be set up for drifting which isn’t at all shocking coming from Vaughn.
We will be at the 2010 SEMA Show in November to catch up with Vaughn and the finished product to bring you a full report. Stay tuned!
