Weekend Warrior Mustang Running In Gumball Rally‏

A design team who partnered with sporting goods maker PUMA, will drive a “Weekend Warrior” that has been converted into an RTR Mustang for the 2010 Gumball 3000 rally. The race car, which has been fully upgraded by Classic Design Concepts, will be wrapped to reflect the cutting edge design of the “Bullit” shoe that was designed by UNDEFEATED. The two drivers of the car will pit the powerful 2010 Ford Mustang in a multi-continent race from May 1-7, 2010 against competitors in a variety of cars, such as Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches and Audis.

Classic Design Concepts helped hot shoe Vaughn Gittin Jr. design and manufacture the “RTR” package for current production Ford Mustangs. The package is based on his drifting and racing experience.

“The concept behind the Weekend Warrior, which we unveiled at SEMA in 2009, was to build a street legal Mustang that could also double as a track car,” said George Huisman, president of Classic Design Concepts. “The team from UNDEFEATED loved the RTR Mustang, but wanted to ratchet up its performance. So we elevated the RTR car to Weekend Warrior specs for the Gumball 3000.”

The 2010 Gumball 3000 rally will leave from London on May 1. It will weave through Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Boston, Quebec City and Toronto before rounding off in New York after seven long days and nights. The event will also feature international celebrities, such as David Hasselhoff, Tony Hawk and Eve.

The “UNDEFEATED” team is supported by key sponsors including Classic Design Concepts, PUMA, RTR, Ford Racing, Kicker Performance, VBOX – Video, Baer, Sparco, Coast Driveline & Gear, Maximum Motorsports and Falken tires.

“The ultimate street/track machine is now a reality,” noted Huisman. “You can drive from work to the track without even changing the tires. It’s comfortable enough for everyday driving, yet aggressive enough to command respect at the track. We even meshed a comfy cockpit with a lightweight rear compartment by deleting the rear seat and package tray. Helmet, gloves, shoes, jack, jackstands, torque wrench, etc., all have a place in the car. It’s the perfect Gumball 3000 rally car.”

The Weekend Warrior package is available from select Classic Design Concepts dealers across the United States. Available as individual components or as a complete package, the Mustang includes:
