Anyone running Nitto Drag Radials?
I am starting to think my choice of tires was not a wise one. Last year at the track they did not perform as good as I thought they would. The shitty part is that I had the stock goodyears 245 wide the year before and these Nittos did not gain me anything
Now I know becasue of the rim size I am already at a disadvantage, they are 285 wide on an 18" rim. Another kick in the sack was I added Bassani X pipe and high flow cats, I added an Accufab TB and an Accufab plenum and with these extra mods the car did not improve, especially the traction
What would be the minimum tire pressure I should run on the track to try and increase traction?

I ran Nittos for a season and a half and kep the pressure at 15psi. Best 60 ft was a 1.71 with an average of mid 1.8's to low 1.9s.
On an unprepped track they do nothing that I could see and they are really easy to break loose. I was at about 285 at the wheels when running them. They lasted forever for me and that was one good thing about them. Another tip is that you really have to heat them up, I mean really heat them up. at Least a 10 to 12 second burnout. If you just turn them once or til you see smoke they will not work. You have to get them hot. They will work, good luck.

My Nittos were completely useless at St. Thomas Dragway (no prep). I tried all sorts of pressure combinations and nothing saved me from doing a burnout through 3rd. Hell, I was launching at 1500 since anything over would make me sit at the line.
They were junk at 260rwhp (245/45/17) and they were junk at 419rwhp (275/40/17).

The 18's really Hurt you as well, there window for getting good tration is very small. Also with Nittos it seems as they get closer to being worn out they get better.
I was stupid and bought some BFG KDW2's... two times the money of any other tire and half the traction...
