C5 'Vette Brakes onto my 2005 Mustang GT ?
Hey guys! I happen to have a set of C5 (ZO6 I think) front + rear brakes (rotor, caliper, everything). Damn, let me tell you, those front brakes are BIG. I've been contemplating putting them up front on my '05 GT, rather than dishing out for a whole big brake kit, and putting the stang's front brakes in the back. Before I get into a mess with cut brakes lines and whatnot.. can anyone shed some light on what I can expect in terms of installation? Is there any reason why it wouldn't work? I don't know much about all this alignment stuff. Do brakes have different offsets and stuff like wheels do?

For an 05-up car, IMO it would make more sense to keep an eye for some new takeoff GT-500 brakes. They are around from various sources off cars getting upgraded to SuperSnakes, usually around $600ish for the calipers, pads, and rotors. They are a direct bolt-on for the GTs. You just need to have at least 18" wheels with enough spoke clearance for the Brembo calipers.
On the rear, your original brakes are fine, even the GT-500s use the same parts. Trying to use front brakes on the rear is tough, because you would lose the parking brake actuation that is part of the rear calipers.
Better off to sell the Z06 stuff to someone trying to upgrade a base C5 car, and put that toward the purchase of parts that are made for and bolt on to yours.
cheers

Well I have those parts cause I originally intended to build a Factory Five GTM. That project is on hold until I get my degree haha, as is excessive car-related spending. Just saying, I got these bad boys in my basement and I might as well use them for something until I get serious about the build. I figured aside from the obvious 'get larger rims', someone could know of a bracket designed for just that purpose. As for the e-brake... good point!! Luckily there are hydraulic e-brakes which can solve that exact issue. I'm googling away but i'm not getting much...

Haha unfortunately I followed my heart instead of my head, and got an insurance-premium-raising, fuel-gulping beast at age 19 when I have tuition I need to be paying for. Haha I'm doing damage control now.. no more spending.. the exhaust, intake, tuner, and lowering springs are too much as it is. Meh it's okay, google searches haven't shed much light. I'll just leave it as is. I don't really "need" to do something that crazy anyway, it was just a fun thought
