Clanging Sound from Rear

On my Cobra (and the same on my V6..) I can hear a clanging noise coming from the back. It sounds like metal washers hitting against eachother. I can hear this on every bump and you can even hear it on my video from St. Thomas.

I've checked all the bolts and everything is tight, even the shock mounts in the trunk. Could this be bushings? It's really annoying and I'd like to get rid of the sound.

could be wheel bearing... or maybe a pin is shifting and touching the inner housing....or maybe a brake pad....perhaps the spider gear has become a little loose and is moving up and down on the shaft....huh,lots of possibilities, what year is your car???? good luck

It's not coming from the rear-end persay, it's coming from the rear suspension. It's a 97, happened in my 94 as well. Wouldn't be a pad or wheel bearing since it doesn't do it when rolling on a flat surface.. only if there's bumps, like every single road in Windsor. I never hear it going down my street since it's perfectly flat.

Oh....maybe check rear sway bar, or a bad control arm bushing or even broken control arm.. if you haven't already

If you do figure it out post it so we all know...

Could be the rear contol arm bushing is gone and the metal sleeve is banging around when you go over a bump. I'd check all control arm bushings and then go from there. Good luck

It was doing it when I had the spare tire and everything out of the trunk (at the track).

I'll check out the controm arm bushings, that's what I figured it was. I'll have to commendeer the hoist at the dyno shop for a few minutes to take a look.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

They're there, I just installed the springs. It made it before the install as well.

I had the same problem.......crawlled under my car and found that one of the bolts that hold the stablizer bar in was missing......must have come out somehow......Try that
