Flowmaster 40's for Capri?
#12
I put a flowmaster on my 82 Gt to keep it looking stock. I noticed a very, very small increase in power and sound was a slight bit throatier...Next time I'll go with dual exhaust. IMO It was a waste of time and money just to change one muffler. Duals sound and look much nicer. I can see the point of keeping a car stock, but in the case of the early foxes, I would update to 87' - 93' powertrain and exhaust.

Then you would be happy with the idea i gave you!!
You don't have to get it all at once, but part by part, then once you got it all,go nuts, and put it all on.Keep your eyes open for deals on the net,see the h pipes fly around for a good deal once in awhile, same for the catback exhaust like Flowmasters.
Since your not out for a racer, look for a stock set of '86 to '93 shorty headers, stock mid h pipe with cats, and stock LX stainless tailpipes, then weld in some flowmaster 40's.Bang a budget dual exhaust.Your hardest part to find will be the double hump cross member, you will see one for sale a few times a year.Talk around, and see if you can get the double hump cross member, and stock hangers/brackets,and rubber gromments.A lot of guys carry spare stuff around, and forget about it.
That's what i would do.It would also improve your exhaust side greatly compared to the single choked up stocker system.
