Freakin Pinion seaL!!

This afternoon i did an oil change on the F150 FX2, and as i rolled myself from under the front of the truck after installing the new filter (nose of the F150 facing the open garage door), two runny oil lines where on the plastic mat under the GT's diff. So i got closer, and took a better look, and there it was, all damp on the spout of the diff with a drip hangging off of it!..... right below it on them plastic mat all wet where it splits in two running in the little groves to the left, and to the right, then running down on each side where the mat is flat without those grooves towards the garage door just under the rear bumper of the GT! I had just replaced the diffs pinion seal the summer before the GT was parked for winter two winters ago now. I guess not driving it all last summer, and the last two winter sleeps didn't help.
Now i need to replace this thing again, which is not my issue, it's getting under the car is my issue LOL. I no longer have that ambittion to lift my low *** car, and lay under the thing to do this operation or any operation anymore LOL.

Sorry to hear about the bad seal, I think everyone at one time or another has gotten to the point where they no longer have the time or the interest in flinging wrenches. What do you think your plan will be 1LO? Find the time (and ambition lol) to do it yourself, or top it off and head for the closest shop you trust?

Have a really good look at the pinion flange. If it is grooved at all where the seal rides it can cause a leak even if the seal is ok.

I'm gonna fix it myself, i just need to decided when. It might sit another season, so i might leave the seal repair till next season.
I know why it's leaking..... from sitting too long, which is not good on the seals.

Ah man that is too bad. I love only been putting abour 2000 km a year on mine. I know how you feel. I'm hoping once the kids are a little older and out with their friends I'll get some of my energy back to play with.the Mustang.

def67, in a way it's by choice, and another because of having a young family, my money is know set on that. Sure i use to get that huge *** itch to drive the stang. With the cost of rising fuel, e testing, getting that plate sticker which is now over 80 odd bucks in Southern Ontario for one freakin car, and insurance costs. I feel i am getting ripped a new huge hole in my rear for the little amount i can drive it having a family of five. At one time i didn't care. Since having the twins, i have not been able to put over 2500 or so kilometers on my GT per summer, and i can't justify dishing out all the cash to have it on the road for that many kilometers. It fn boils me just thinking about it right now. If i didn't have to blow a paycheck (an exaggeration of coarse) just to get the thing on the road for the summer, it would be different.
I'm not complainning, just stating how it is. I own the car, and it owes me nothing, and when i am ready, or feel ready, and it's time, i will drive it again.... But right now the cost to have it on the road does not justify to the usage i would get out of that hard earned paycheck i get every two weeks.

Yes, different priorities for different stages of our lives.
You will get the desire back, and when you do, I hope you have the health and wealth to go with it.
Been there, done that, moving at the pace of life.

Plate stickers jumped from $75 a year to $90 a year, just got a renewal last week. Nice to see the government rounded it up to a neat 20% increase. Sorry for the hijack, but $80 sounded too reasonable. lol
