Front End Squeak Over Bumps

Front End Squeak Over Bumps
Hi. I have a 2000 Mustang and yesterday, for the first time, the front end started squeaking/groaning like crazy every time I went over a bump.
My initial reaction was that the shocks would need replacing, but checked some Web sites today and see it's a pretty common problem, although no one seems to have a solution.
I've read everything from throwing WD40 on it to replacing ball joints.
Anyone come across this and resolved it successfully?
I know if I take it to the mechanic they'll end up dinging me for new shocks, and ball joints and who knows what else?
Oops just noticed I initially posted it in the wrong place.

It is defiantly some kind of bushings, is the squeak coming from the front or the rear?
Get out and push on every corner on the car, and have someone under it tracking the sound.
Good luck.
