Quad shock help
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey guys, need some help!...i am removing my gas tank and replacing it with a new one.....while it is out of the way, i would like to hook my quad shocks up. My only problem is that the threads that are in the frame have rusted and fallen into the frame leaving a 2 holes. The car was a V6 so it didn't have the plates mounted there, but the frame was ready for them....my question is, has anyone else had this problem, and what did u do to fix....I am not in a financial situtation to buy new Upper and lower control arms so that is out of the question. So far my option is to weld the plates to the frame where there suppose to go and sionce the gas tank is done, i figured now is the best time!.
Any help woould be great!

The gas tank does not interfere with the quad shock mounts, you're at no advantage doing it now. If you really want to do it now, my suggestion would be to make up a plate from 1/8" steel, weld 2 nuts to it, open up the 2 holes where the threads should be so you can recess the plate and nuts into the stock location, then have that plate welded to the frame, that way if you ever want to remove the quads, you'll be left with a factory-looking steel plate instead of the ugly quad plate.

Yeah, I guess, I never had a problem welding as long as the tank doesn't leak. With a sealed fuel tank, there's no chance of a fire. It's really up to you though, personally I'd rather install the tank so you can the drive somewhere to have the plates welded in instead of having someone come out to do it......unless you have a welder handy where you're doing the job. Good luck.
