Shops Closing
Whats up with all these shops closing? I see Nicks is gone and Tag Motorsports. Anyone know of others?
I hear there's a few others on the way out.
Whats happening to the performance industry?

Im not speaking against any shops because i've never dealt with those shops personally but if you dont keep your customers happy, they dont keep coming back. I dont care how high the dollar is if your a nice guy and people like you'll they'll pay a little bit extra to keep ya in business.

I would say it is a little bit of all of the above.
Dollar, Laws, bad business.
Not good anyway you look at it.
But then again, they may not of closed for any of those reason, might be something totally different.
Who knows.

Ultimately, like in any industry, those who work hard and are good to their customers succeed. This is life. If you are good at what you do, people will seek you out.
As far as the performance shop stuff goes, I cannot get over how much back-stabbing, private messaging and overall BULLSHIT occurs! If I recommend a shop because I have had good experience with them, I don't want some moron PM'ing me telling me I'm a retard for recommending that shop and that "so and so" is a better shop because HE deals with them. WHO CARES!!!! I will deal with and will PUBLICLY voice my experience with whatever shop or shops that I like, and if somebody else has FIRST HAND negative feedback, then let's hear it, otherwise, if it's tripe and 3rd party rhetoric, shut the up, nobody needs to hear what happened to a friend of a friend's uncle's father's nephew's buddy.
There is MORE than enough business around to allow a multitude of these shops to not only survive, but to THRIVE. People don't have to go out of their way to try and bad-mouth other shops because they personally favour another shop. If a shop is good, it will succeed, if a shop's work is inferior, it will eventually fail. LET NATURE TAKE IT'S COURSE!!! All this back-stabbing and bullshit is ruining the hobby!!!!!

Part of it is the shops that are always trying to undercut their competitors, and sell something for $10 less or whatever ... they end up whoring the market down, so that none of the business can make enough on their sales to remain even slightly profitable.
Another problem of course is the Internet, people shop around, find something a bit cheaper on the Web, and buy it that way rather than supporting their local businesses. I'm not saying they should blindly pay a huge difference in price, but the cheapest deal isn't always the best one.
cheers
