What recommended suspension drop for 96 v6
Will be looking to lower the car in may-ish. It's a 1996 V6 5 spd. I'm not looking to pound the car, although i may bracket race it a little this summer.
Just looking for a little lower ride height and was told that can be done just with diff. springs. I know on our cav's if you install lowering springs, you should also go for a good set of shocks. Otherwise in a couple months the ride gets real bouncy.
Can you lower properly with just a new set of springs? or should i also be looking into some new struts? The car will be riding on '99 GT rims, with stock sized rubber, but probably something a little sticker
Any recommended springs? combo's? some pics would be nice if handy.
I don't have the ownership switched over to my name yet, but want to be looking in case i see something up for sale that would work. I'm starting to get on all the forums and talking to ppl just trying to get a jumpstart on everything though. Thanks all.

IMHO, Ford made the '01 Bullitt suspension work so why mess with it:
Bullitt coil springs … these will drop a 1999 – up V8 car approximately ¾”, 1994 – 1998 V8 cars approx. 1”, improving handling and getting rid of the large fender to tire gap with original springs, while keeping acceptable ride comfort. Front springs are rated at 600 lbs./inch, rear are 250. Upgraded struts and shocks are recommended with these. Will run you just over $300 CAD for a set.
Bullitt Mustang struts and shocks by Tokico … these are Tokico Premium non-adjustable units, factory installed in the 2001 Bullitt Mustangs. Will fit all 1994 and newer Mustangs. The front struts include new upper mount plates. These are excellent quality units for a great price. They will reduce ride harshness on a lowered car, and improve handling compared to other original equipment struts and shocks. Will run you just over $450 CAD for a set.
Using these as a baseline you might be able to do it more economically through aftermarket or used parts. I achieved what I wanted with a set of Steeda Sport springs (stiffer by 50 lb up front, slightly larger drop) and Mach 1 shocks and struts.

i'm off work today so have been on just about every v6 and mustang forum out there...and i swear 20 ppl have linked to this e-bay store
$450 canadian (before any brokerage or shipping)
For the Ford Mustang Bullitt Tokico Struts Shocks Sway Bars Kit
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MakeTrack=true
i've heard alot of good things about the Bullitt setup on the v6's
i'm just looking into a canadian seller who can save me the brokerage fee... or a comparable setup that doesn't necessarily need the sway bars included...
he sells the struts/shocks only also for $318 (plus whatever brokerage and shipping might be) so i'll PM that guy from the ford dealer here
anyone know the diff. between the Mach1 struts/shocks and the Bullitt combo? is one lower then the other, better ride, when paired with the same spring?

As far as I recall, the Mach 1 shocks/struts are slightly "softer" than the Bullitts, making for less of a "jarring" ride. Both are designed to work with what are essentially FMS "C" springs (rates comparible to the Bullitt kit).
I have Mach's in my car (with Steeda Sport springs) and I compete with it at autoslalom and lapping events, great set up which is a VAST improvment over stock and still hospitable on the street.
I second the idea of getting ahold of "Fast Ed" if you're looking at a Bullitt kit, by the time you pay brokerage, etc. it might be just as economical to get it from "Fines Ford". FWIW, the sway bar is not significantly different that one in a GT (not sure about V6's), so the extra cost to ship it is hardly worth it.
