Talking New Member! Looking for advice on first Mustang purchase!

Hey guys! Just stumbled across your forums and thought I would sign up! Been looking for some new wheels lately, and have always been in love with Mustangs I had a few ideas, as money is always an issue nowadays I didn't wanna go to gung ho with my first stang, and spend 15 - 20 grand so I thought "I love the old foxbody's", (90 - 93 Mainly), and the late 90's Cobra's as well. Any thoughts on purchasing something along these lines!? Thanks!!

Welcome aboard. Looking for a 90-93 Stang is a great idea as they have tons of potential and can be had for a reasonable price. Good luck with your search.

Welcome dude. Not to be all negative, but if money is an issue, buying a Mustang is never a good idea, it's a money pit fo-sho. Case in point, there's a dude on here that spent over $100g's on his 2000-something convertible, and he's selling it for $25,000 or so.(been sitting on it for a few months too). That being said, you don't do it for the return on the money, and I think if you're spending 15 to 20 grand you'll get a nice Fox for the money. Better yet, offer dude $20,000 and see if he takes it. lol

Welcome, there's lots of fox body stangs out there, and some good deals as well, so good luck.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys!! Sorry Apocalypse Pony, I meant that 15 - 20G is not what I wanted to spend on the first purchase. Overall Income is not bad at all, I just need a set of wheels ASAP to get to work, so right now I got a budget of about 6500 - 7000 for the car. Money wise in the future though im not worried price wise for mods/engine and rebuilds! My real question is, would it be worth getting an older 5.0 and putting a new engine into it? Or an old Cobra?

I think if you're spending that much on a Mustang, try to get a New Edge (99-04). You can find them in that price range, and remember if you're able to spend 7000, you can talk a guy down from 8000 to 7000 fairly easily, so look at some priced between 7000 and 8000, and get the best deal you can. Here's a couple examples I found on Kijiji in BC.

2002 Ford Mustang GT Coupe - British Columbia Cars For Sale - Kijiji British Columbia Canada.

2000 Ford Mustang GT Supercharged - British Columbia Cars For Sale - Kijiji British Columbia Canada.

2000 Ford Mustang Convertible - Campbell River Cars For Sale - Kijiji Campbell River Canada.

There was as of last week a 2008 Mustang 4.0 for sale at Orchard Park Ford in Kelowna. $16000.00. Pretty good shape. Sonic Blue. Look up Orchard Ford on your browser.
