End of Drag Racing in Canada??????

It's all part of their master plan to crush the spirit of people who want to modify their cars. First the absolutely ridiculous road-side E-test crap where they intentionally target cars that look "non-stock", then, to compound that one, they hang out outside the racetrack, waiting to nail you as you leave for this stuff.
THEN, the implemented the "street racing" laws........
Now they are trying to ban race fuel. And of course they are intentionally ignoring the fact that race consumption of leaded fuel is like farting against a hurricane in contrast to the massive amount of leaded fuel used by the aviation industry...... Of course most of the people peddling this nonsense probably own private aircraft themselves........
They want this hobby gone. They don't understand it, and don't want to try. So, they will simply crush it instead.

I think you hit it right on the head here, They are trying to absolutely crush the idea of modifying your car at all and putting the idea that anyone who does is a street racer into everyones heads. I think we seriously need to all do everything we can to petition this doesnt happen this will affect so much more than drag racing in the end.

I think some here are over-reacting a little. You can already buy 109+ octane unleaded race gas, and it works just fine. This fuel should even be preferrable to those racing a fuel injected car employing the use of an expensive wide band that can be damaged by leaded fuels.

To add to this, many cars these days are much more tolerant of low octane fuels than back in the muscle car era. Some modern production cars are near 11:1 and run just fine on 91 octane...
I am much more concerned about 10,000.00 fines and unlimited police authority over those who "look" like street racers than I am about banning leaded race fuels! Actually I can't wait till the tree huggers get their "clean" E85/E100 - It will be the highest motor octane ever available on Canadian highways.
I know of a B16A powered Civic that runs 40+ lbs of boost and makes 700+ WHP using out of the pump E85 - Street car. If you wanted to do that to a 5.0 Mustang, you'd have a nice 2166 RWHP street car on pump "gas".

Yes we can buy 109+ octane unleaded race gas, for our cars to race on, BUT...... Pro Mod, Pro Stock, Top Fuel and Nitro Funny Car and most people running in the sportsman classes are running leaded fuels and they wont be able to come here and race because of this, this is what we are pissed off about.

This will change the way forced in induction cars are tuned. E85 is like race fuel for ANYTHING with forced induction. If anyone should be bitching, it should be that we cannot get it here.

I think it is fair to say that the auto scene in general is really hurting!
Nopi has even halted operations (click here )
So, between events getting canned, poor turnouts and MTO / Police always busting us, there isnt much left inbetween.

IMO this bill is aimed squarely at racers. (well duh, if rich bastards get to dick around in their private jets on weekends)
also makes you think, the rich are the only ones that get to play on weekends?
as for concern for people taking it to the streets, I'm pretty sure that won't happen. for two reasons.1) i doubt that many roads will hold the power of cars that necessitate the use of leaded gas. and 2) if there is a ban, supply will dry up and the ones who decided to race on the streets won't be able to do so any longer.
however, knowing me, I may have missed the point completely and will log in tomorrow and find a bunch of ppl calling me stupid.
c'est la vie
