Auto to manual tranny swap-over question

Auto to manual tranny swap-over question
Ok, I need some feedback in what manual tranny will bolt to a '86 V6 3.8L (in a '86 Mustang LX)? My new car is all original with a V6/auto. I'm looking to do a swap-over for a manual tranny. A friend told me that any 4-speed manual from 1986 to 1989 out from a Mustang (or Carpi - the '86 being the last year) will bolt in with bellhousing and driveshaft together.
Do anyone confirm on that? He said a Borg 5 spd tranny will not work with my V6. Appreciated any advice - thanks!

The borg 5 spd will bolt to your engine. The v6 flywheel will be too big around to fit into the bellhousing- possibly- It may fit but the 302 bellhousing starter bolt holes will not work. I have never done that swap but have installed a tko with a 302 bellhousing behind a 3.8L and all the problems were with the flywheel. All I did was machine the outer edge of the 3.8L flywheel down until the 5L starter ring gear fit on. The rest was easy.

Thanks for the suggestion - I did want to have a 5 spd tranny. For now, a 4 spd will do until I find a good 302 carbed to mate with a 5 spd then. I have to keep the original V6 as it's good to drive in the city.
Tomorrow there's a '86 Mercury Carpi in a local yard that have a 4 spd tranny so, I'm gonna see about pulling it out. Still wants to know whatever a manual tranny from a 4 cyl carbed will fit to a V6 carbed?
