Vortech + Air/Air Intercooler

When I end up building a new motor, I'm planning on running 14psi. I already have the Snow Performance Boost Cooler but I was thinking about also adding an air/air intercooler.

I've been looking at the Paxton intercooler as it looks to use the least amount of piping and doesn't require cutting of the bumper support, which I will not do. The one issue I could see with the Paxton intercooler is how the pipes that curl up under the radiator have a very small diameter. Is this an issue or not? Looks like it would be a fairly large restriction.

If the Paxton intercooler isn't the ideal way to go, what's a good one to use?

This is all for a 97 Cobra, Vortech blower, AFM Power Pipe.

DO IT!
You will be so happy with it. Cooler the air the better.

I don't want to use the aftercooler since I'll need to relocate the battery, which I really don't plan on doing.

For 12PSI you'll be fine. The effects of the IC will far outway some little piping.

Well it'll be 14psi with the option of going to 18psi (have the pulley/belt). I don't want to destroy my drivetrain right now, but maybe in the future when I have more funds to beef it up.

even at 14psi you should be good....the paxton coolers are a little restrictive on the piping but they are pretty efficient...if the price is right go for it

I say get some water/meth injection and forget adding a bunch of piping and a restrictive intercooler.

I built a custom A2A intercooler for my 03 - I used a Procharger intercooler & 3" custom tubing (we also rolled the lip of each pipe to ensure it holds under pressure).

I didn't like how low the clearance was on the Paxton...

Here's my set up...
