Any deals out there for a pre-1990 hatchback 5.0L?
Hey guys
I've been tossing around the idea for a while about getting active in circuit racing again, with a 5.0L Mustang. It's been a lot of years since I raced my old 87, and for the last 10 years or so my only track activity has been lapping days and instructing with my T-Bird SC and now my Taurus SHO (occasionally with my friend's 07 GT too), and one each of a LeMons and Chumpcar race the last few seasons. VARAC, the vintage racing association in Canada, has a category for 1972 - 1989 cars now that has my interest.
So anyway, the ideal candidate would be an 87 LX hatchback, so that I don't have to worry about e-testing. Having said that, I would consider any 86-89 hatchback. Nothing against coupe Fox cars, but for my purposes a hatchback works much better. Looking for a car that has a reasonably solid undercarriage, strut towers, and bodywork. The condition of the interior, brakes, and suspension don't matter, as that will all be removed or upgraded. T-tops are no good, would prefer it to not have a sunroof as well. A strong drivetrain would be a bonus, however I would certainly consider a roller as well. Would prefer a car that is as close to stock as possible, not looking to undo a bunch of mods, especially drag racing related stuff.
Price range would be $3000 or less ... anyone have something that fits the bill? I've been keeping an eye on kijiji recently, a few cars on there several hours away that I may end up looking at. If I could find something a bit closer in the GTA that could be driven home, that would be a bonus.
Please send me a p.m. if you have a car to offer, or know of one.
thanks!!

Nope, sold the Cougar in 08, a few months after the SC was gone. Both cars I'd owned for about 11 years, felt like time to move on. Right now I just have the 67 VW and the crapper SHO.
cheers
