wtb 5.0 + 5-speed + harness and computer
As the title says, I'm looking for a motor and 5-speed trans and all other needed parts to get the project going. Let me know what you have and how much you want for it.

rickp - I did just join, but as demonicus noted, I do not own a stang, nor do I plan on getting one (Im not dissing the stang, I just like imports more!). I am building an FD (1993-2002) Mazda RX-7 and plan on swapping in either a 1JZ (Toyota 2.5L inline 6 twin turbo) or a 5.0L SBF(must be fuel injected). Either way, Im looking for about 350HP and approx the same TQ. Obviously both motors are easily capable (the 1JZ is 280HP/310TQ out of the box) and Im sure everyone knows what a 5.0L can do with minor tweeks... so it comes down to price. $1900 for the 1JZ includes everything I need to make it run... I joind this forum because I want to know what I would be looking at to get a decent 5.0L with the 5-speed, computer and wire harness.
To sum it all up, Im sick of the rotary engine, and the problems associated with it...

Finding a clean harness won't be easy or cheap.
Fox resto does have some here.
Generally, peoples prices on the A9L and wiring is nuts, most mustang guys over price their cars and parts. I would def. consider the costs associated and compare the value you get as apposed to getting say a stand alone like Big Stuff 3. Flexibility will be greater with a standalone

Good luck on the search!

rickp, I would like to get a Painless Performance wire harness, but the Standalone ECU "Big Stuff 3" you posted sounds interesting Ill have to look further into that... I found a good running motor out of an 89 LX for $100 but no wire, and no transmission. I will probably build the motor (because I got it so cheap!) and will end up with a new centerforce clutch from a friend. Now the issue is a flywheel (I would like an aluminum one), and 5-speed trans...

OK, the Big Stuff 3... It seems like a great piece of hardware. But there are 2 issues.
1 - It seems to be geared towards GM cars (I know, not too hard to make it work a Ford because it is a standalone...)
2 - $2500. 'nuff said? Thats almost the budget for the whole project!

$600 sounds reasonable...
What condition is the motor and trans in? Does it run, trans have the regular 1st to 2nd gear grind? Just let me know how things look!
Thanks!
