Well, I am looking for 400hp. The 1JZ is at 280 - 320hp depending on what vehicle it comes out of. The 5.0 only comes with 225hp. I know that torque is a bit different but the 1JZ comes with 280 factory. and its got a very robust torque curve above 2500rpm. What Im getting at is that Im still weighing the pros/cons of each swap. The rotary engine is long gone.
I know that I need a cam head and intake ($2500 aprox) befor I get some good power out of the stang motor. $600 for a stang motor that has been sitting and will probably need a refreshing ($700). Total about $3800
at the same time I need a turbo and manifold for the toyota motor ($1300).
the motor goes for $1500, and will need some rubber hoses, and a set of cam crank and oil pan gaskets ($80). Total about $2880...
So do I go with the V8 sound or the buzz of a tuned inline 6?
