A car like that with a sound system that nice you'd figure you'd be out all the time with it my car only has 2 12" alpine type R's with 1 1000W amp and that's pretty loud :S i can only imagine what your's is like in a hatchback.. I used to run 4- 12's in db drag hit 140.7 im sure your hitting more than that have you ever had it tested?

 

Very nice install. Reminds me of the days when I was popin out systems like that on a weekly basis! Market just isn't what it used to be! How do you find the build outs on the doors? Seem very tight with the window crank. Knuckle busters! I'm about to "deflower" my '91 coupe (stock system is KILLING ME) but starting with sound dampening first. Best upgrade I ever did to my '90 coupe was add sound dampening to the whole car. With 4 F/A 10's across the rear seat I kept my trunk and the car sounded AWSOME, clean, tight, and NO RATTLES.

 

Yea, the door build outs are in fact knuckle busters. LOL

I rarely drive the car, maybe 5x last summer so its not so bad. I have slowly started converting the car to all power so that the knuckle busting will be done with

The car is quiet though it wasn't sound deadened. Car feels heavy, a bit sluggish as is with all the equipment

Where were you working before?

 

I've been around the GTA for around 20 years now doing automotive electronics. Started in Scarborough at HAKA Auto Radio, went to Audio Magic during "the boom" ( no pun intended), Auto Sound Design, MASS Electronics, Hung around the Hammer a bit and did a stint at East Hamilton Radio before heading back to the GTA to go back to MASS Electronics. Was tired of getting my hands dirty so I've move from installing to doing Tech. Support. Now I'm bored, missing the installs so I freelance on the side. My new ride (91 LX) will keep me busy for a while though...aside from the sound dampening I'm planning a fairly basic system. 3 way set up up front (6,4, + tweet) and still debating on the subs. Have a few tubes (low weight, high efficiency) and a couple type "r" 12's (awsome SPL but heavy). I want to keep the interior looking stock so when I demo it I get "but where is all the sound coming from?". Old timers like the stock look and the rest love the sound. Best of both worlds....

That is really going back to the old school.

My influence for this car was to keep it to some degree stock looking, even stealthy. I went MDF in the rear, no fancy glass. I wanted vinyl, no paint.

It's not the loudest system I have had, but it is one of the nicer, cleaner installs.

If I was ever going to do the stang again, I think I would go wild. 6 15's maybe

Last night I pulled out a ton of equipment from the car. The 12s, amps, amp rack, battery, wiring are all out. Going to scale back to maybe 1 12 and 2 amps.

Real shame. Might try and repurpose some of the MDF.

 

Fawcking sweet setup!!!!!.......must be a bitch to change the battery tho....???

That setup must have weighed a ton with all that equipment - superior work though, and a very clean install. Real shame to pull it all out indeed - ready for a change of pace or just tired of the set up?
