2007 Mustang swap faceplate on Shaker 500 with one from 2008. Will it work?
Hi,
I bought a used shaker 500 deck on e-bay for a 2008 Mustang thinking I would use it to replace the one that I had for my 2007 Mustange with a cracked faceplate and no lighting (so couldn't see the controls/options/clock etc). The used one is fine for all of that but the CD changer loading mechanism is F***. So now I can return the deck to the seller and get back $100 (although I have now spent an additional $150 on installation and reflashing the system and would have to pay to ship back) or I can swap the 2008 faceplate and put it on the 2007 unit which at least worked--if that could be done successfully I wouldn't spend any more $$ and hopefully I wouldn't have to have the thing reflashed. Has anyone tried this? Would it work? Thanks!

I can't see any reason why it wouldn't. A friend of mine replaced the faceplate of his 1999 Mustang - and it worked great! Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the 2007 model.
Another option - if the deck you have is from a 2008 model is to take the deck to Ford and have them look at it under warranty. I'm not sure what the warranty is for stereo equipment.
Good luck!

Yes, you can swap the faces no problem.
Here is a thread on another forum showing how its done:
