Replace s197 Door Subs??
hey guys i dont know too much about the audio field. i have done some searching, but have hit some grey areas. i cant stand the rattle of the junky 8" subs in the door on my shaker 500 system. I have heard mixed reviews from the pioneer to the kickers. so the bottom line is that i need some 8" subs that fit in the door with no modifications and will run on the stock amp and shaker 500 HU. is this possible, and of so what do i need. thanks alot!!!

If you want to keep everything stock you have to replace the 8" sub with one of
the same resistance (ohms). I am pretty sure the 6"x8"s are all 6ohms and I would not be surprised the 8" subs are as well. I have the same shaker 500 in my 05 and i can understand why you want to change them. The whole stereo makes alot of distortion. I think kicker makes a better sub than pioneer, but I have had some pioneers that have taken quite a beating. Its all preference. In my system I use an alpine R15 for my bass.
JL makes great subs too.

IF you want best quality, your best shot is to just get it all replaced. It doesn't matter what kind of car you own.. the stock audio is always the cheapest entry level.. CRAP. if you like the look of the Stang HU, I'm sure a decent audio shop can do something for you. it's honestly nit that bad. as for speakers.. the kind of woofers you are looking at from my guess if the performance lines of kicker and pioneer. these subs may fit in diamiter, but you also have to look for depth. certain brands have specific shallow speakers/woofers for aplications as such. the SN95 stang with the Mach 460 system had some odd sizes, I finally got the proper ones in. I went with a Hertz setup. great quality, and not stupidly expensive..
with what you are asking. try to get a decent deal at a local audio shop, and keeping ur stock HU will definatly help keep costs down.
good luck
