Run for the Cure "Show and Shine" Kelowna
The Run for the Cure Show and Shine was held today in Kelowna, B.C. there were all sorts of vehicles at the event. While the event was well attended the area was not roped off, as such there were people in the area on ten speed bikes, power chairs, kids with dirty hands peering into car windows and even a few kids using the undercarriage of a Monster truck as a monkey bar set...sometime one wonders about event liability. I'll get the pictures up as soon as I can figure out how to do it.

Nice pic's Ray, love 'em all. Puts me in the mood to watch the Dazed & Confused high school parking lot and Top Notch drive-in scenes a few times. Or maybe Bullitt. Or Vanishing Point. Or Two-Lane Blacktop. Or Smokey & The Bandit. Or . . .

This is the letter I sent this morning to the Okanogan Mustang Club President;
The show and shine yesterday (05 May) was fairly well attended and as you can see there was a variety of vehicles. The 70-72 Orange Barracuda won the prize. I had a few problems with this event as did others as follows;
1. The event area should have been roped off with only one entry and exit point, we had public vehicles driving through the area with no intention of viewing the parked cars.
2. There were people cruising through the area with bicycles and motorized wheel chairs coming fairly close to vehicles which is rather scary for car enthusiasts.
3. There was a Monster truck on site and during my walk about there were young boys 5-7 years old climbing under the truck chassis (nine or ten feet high) like with kids playing on monkey bars...god forbid that the truck should have loose part and some kid gets hurt in the process.
4. One of the club members had his GT parked next to my Mustang I turned around to hear the young voice behind me and here were two young boys slapping their dirty grimy hands on the right passenger window of the GT. The father only pulled his boys away when he heard me say "This is why I don't like to see kids at these events."
5. I am all for the public coming out to these events and viewing our vehicles and asking questions but I am not in favor of a loosey goosey event with no one ensuring either the security of vehicles or people.
Perhaps as the OK Mustang Club president your could pass on these remarks to the Show and Shine Event Coordinator. You would think that event liability would be in their best interests, especially ensuring that kids do not get hurt and vehicles do not suffer damage.

x2 in a huge way. I think you are right on point Ray with your suggestions. When in Windsor for our Thursday night meet we would not allow bikes into the event, handicapped scooters on the other hand were allowed for obvious reasons. Generally the people using them were older and very careful. You and I differ in one way forsure as I had no problem reprimanding youth who showed a lack of respect. What pissed me off more than the youngins doing what they were doing was when the parents got snarkie as I asked the kids to keep the mitts off. Right there that tells you why the kids did what they did. With no car right now I do not have that worry and hell if it rains on Wed night I will not have to get pissed if the show is cancelled lol
