Wheel cleaner and procedure

Hey gang

I'm looking for some recommendations on what to use to clean my Aluminum black painted wheels? I bought a wheel brush but am not sure if its a good idea to use one. Dont want scratches. As far as cleaner I have Turtle wax foaming wheel cleaner. I have not used either yet incase I decide to return them for something better.

Most of the wheel cleaners you can buy are safe for all finishes. Just read the label on your turtle wax and as long as it says safe for painted wheels it will be fine. I'd avoid the brush if you can as it probably will scratch.

It might be handy for the inside of the wheel though

The brush will definitely come in handy for the inside of the wheel, and for the face of the wheel I use a microfibre wrapped foam pad thingy on a handle that I bought from Cdn Tire. It's about the same size as the tire brush, but no scratching.

maybe I'm still in my Focus mode, but water and a rag work for me. At least I know there are no chemicals that will mess with the finish.

I usually just use water and a micro fibre towel and they work great IMO. I sometimes use turtle wax tho and it stays clean for longer after.

Used TW foaming wheel cleaner today. It did a good job on the outside but the inside not so much. I will be using a micro cloth on them next time. I got her all washed and dried and in the garage just in time for the clouds to roll in. My car being white is a bug magnet

I use a Simoniz Microfibre Wash Mitt on my black painted rims with cr soap, then dry them with The Absorber, after that i use Mothers FX spray wax to make them pop.

Ditto that, except I use Dawn dish soap. I also pull the wheels off twice per year to wash/wax the insides and clean/treat the rubber and clean brakes(painted calipers).
